Petition to Withdraw Bill No. 050575 from Consideration by the Council
of The City of Philadelphia

Councilwoman Blackwell:

On June 2, 2005, you introduced Bill No. 050575, subsequently amended and
accepted by Philadelphia City Council on June 15, 2005, which would authorize
The City of Philadelphia to enter into an agreement to lease the building
located at 4508 Chestnut Street for the purpose of establishing a homeless
shelter. We feel that this 70,228 square foot shelter, zoned for a minimum of
three hundred forty beds, would have a catastrophic impact on the surrounding
community. 

As homeowners, landlords, tenants, institutions, and developers with properties 
in the immediate area surrounding 4508 Chestnut Street, we, the undersigned,
request that you withdraw Bill No. 050575 from consideration by City Council.
