Space Flight

Oh you not bound to
    Earth like me,
In flight past stars
    I cannot see:
Remember, deep in alien skies
    You fly because I raised my eyes.

I have not gone
    Beyond the air
Myself, and yet
    I sent you there;
For those like me
    With minds of fire
Can never rest;
    We must aspire.

If you look back
    You will not see
My face, but
    Keep my memory;
And that of all who
    Strive and plan
To make the cosmos
    Home to man.
